What this site is
Restaurant Coaching Solutions is a free resource for owners, general managers, kitchen managers and shift leads at independent restaurants. Most of them never hire a coach or a consultant. They learn by doing, by asking a friend who runs a place across town, and by working through problems late at night after close. We write for that person.
Everything here is something you can use on your own: calculators for plate cost, pour cost, buffet pricing, prime cost, turnover cost and tip credits; guides for coaching yourself and your managers, running pre-shift meetings and whiteboard sessions, and handling paperwork such as Form I-9; and articles on the harder parts of leading a team.
What this site is not
We don't sell coaching, consulting, courses, memberships or software, and we don't take clients. There are no testimonials here because there are no customers. We don't run ads, we don't use affiliate links and we don't accept paid placements. Our promise page lists the rest of what we won't do.
Who writes it
Pages are written and maintained by the RCS Editorial Team, a small group of writers and editors who have worked in and around independent restaurants. We publish under the team name rather than individual bylines. When a page relies on a law, a government form, a court decision or a published figure, we link to the original source so you can check it, and we update the page when the source changes.
Nothing on this site is legal, tax or accounting advice. Wage rules, immigration paperwork and tax treatment depend on where you operate. Use our explanations to understand the basics, then confirm with the agency or a qualified professional before making a decision that affects someone's pay or job.
The history of this domain
This site was relaunched in 2026 under new, independent management. The domain was used by a different business in earlier years. We have no connection to the domain's earlier owners or to the services they offered, and we don't speak for them. Some old addresses now point to the closest matching page on the new site so that old bookmarks and links still lead somewhere useful.
